Guest Speaker at the Celebrate Life Walk for the Iowa Donor Network!

On April 19th, I was asked to be a Guest Speaker at the Celebrate Life Walk for the Iowa Donor Network in Bettendorf, and it was a day to remember! I was able to share my story about the amazing gifts I received 14 years ago, and I was so touched to learn about the heartbreaking and inspiring story from a mother who lost her 16 year old daughter tragically but was able to donate her organs to save upwards of 200 people!! Organ donation is just incredible.

I was super blessed to meet a young man who was Lung Transplant #264 in Iowa City! What an awesome young man! I have the same shirt he has, except mine says #67. How cool is that?

I am so thankful for all of the friends and family that I had show up to support me. I am so blessed!!

Hi, my name is Melanie. Thanks for checking out my blog! I have two amazing kids and the best husband anyone could be lucky enough to have. To put it simply, I have been through a lot. I was diagnosed with lymphangioleiomyomatosis (LAM) when I was pregnant with my youngest. I talk about what the disease is here: What is LAM? I also hope to show that through all of the difficulties that life has thrown my way, it is a CHOICE to live every day as if it is my last. It very well could be, so I will never let a day go by where I do not appreciate and love all of the blessings that God has given me in this life. Starting with the extra time that this double lung transplant has given me.
